An Evening with Will Mcnicol at Cafe No9
The Spiel
“One of the best acoustic players on the planet right now” - GUITAR WORLD “flawless” - GUITARIST MAGAZINE Having picked up his first guitar at the age of six, Will McNicol has grown into one of the UK’s most respected contemporary acoustic guitarists. He was named Guitarist Magazine’s UK “Acoustic Guitarist of the Year” (2011), featured in Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s “30 Great Guitarists Under 30 from Around the World” (2014), and described by Guitar World as “one of the best acoustic players on the planet right now” (2021). Will holds Associate, Licentiate, and Fellowship diplomas with Trinity College London in Classical Guitar Recital, and has released multiple critically acclaimed albums of original music. Throughout his career, Will has performed extensively across the UK and internationally, presenting concerts as a solo artist, appearing at major festivals, and supporting world- renowned musicians including Antonio Forcione, Pierre Bensusan, Clive Carroll, Jon Gomm, Martin Simpson, and Mumford & Sons, among others. His performances have been praised by the music press as “beautifully flawless” and “magical.” His touring, performance, workshop, and masterclass work has taken him across the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, the USA, Zimbabwe, and China, including multiple appearances at one of Africa’s largest music events, the Harare International Festival of the Arts. As a composer, Will draws on influences from across the globe. He blends modern fingerstyle guitar with a classical sensitivity to tone and phrasing, resulting in cinematic, beautifully narrative pieces that unfold like short films without words. ********************************************************************************** Please note this ticket price DOES include a BYOB fee should you wish to bring alcohol to the venue.
