Blue Rose Code
The Spiel
Yes he's back by popular demand. that is me. one of my favourite live acts" T Blue Rose Code is a band led by Edinburgh-born, Liverpool-based singersongwriter Ross Wilson, at once, one of Edinburgh's favourite sons and still one of Scotland's best kept secrets. Blue Rose Code’s music has been described as "Ravishingly beautiful, a blaze of Caledonian Soul, muted jazz & poetic recitation (Uncut), having an “almost religious intensity and sincerity. Wilson makes widescreen soul in the spirit of Van Morrison (The Times), and "One of the best live acts around...”(AmericanaUK). Their previous albums include With Healing Of The Greatest Kind(2020), The Water of Leith(2017), The Ballads of Peckham Rye (2014) and most recently, 2023’s reflective compilation, TenYearsGrace. Wilson’s career has seen him work with the great Danny Thompson, Eddi Reader, and most recently, co-write with English folk royalty Steve Knightley and BlueRoseCode’s records have featured Karine Polwart, EwanMcGregor, and Nashville Gospel legends, The McCrary Sisters, along with some of the UK's finest jazz Musicians. Wilson has opened for VanMorrison, toured with The Proclaimers, DeaconBlue, and Blue Rose Code have been featured live on TV and Radio as well as his songs being used in the French prime time show, Cherif, as well as Hollyoaks and feature length film, The Low Road. Last summer saw the band play main stages at Cambridge Folk Festival, Shrewsbury festival, Tonder in Denmark, and BlackDeer. The experience of playing to the big crowds with the big band has developed the Blue Rose Code sound into an unmissable live show and that energy has been taken into the studio for Bright Circumstance.
