The Spiel
Embodying a sound unfamiliar to many, Southern UK band Forlorn blend expressionist art, crushing soundscapes and paganism to carve out their own brand of innovative ‘Folk Horror’. Their sound combines downtuned guitars with cinematic, atmospheric elements to create a style often described as “haunting, immersive, and deeply narrative”. Since Forlorn’s inception in 2019, the quintet have been championed by major streaming, press and radio tastemakers, leading them to national radio plays on both BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio as well as editorial playlisting on Spotify (New Blood, The Pit, All New Metal) and Apple Music. March 2025 saw the release of Forlorn’s debut album ‘Aether’ to critical acclaim from major press outlets including Kerrang!, Rock Sound and Metal Hammer; the latter of which celebrated the band’s debut full-length in a double page New Noise feature within issue 404 of the magazine. As well as selling out their ‘Aether‘ release show at The Black Heart in London on March 28th, Forlorn’s haunting live presence has graced stages across the UK alongside artists like Dying Wish, Devil Sold His Soul, DESTRAGE, Calva Louise, CRYPTA, Ithaca and North Atlas, festivals like at Radar Festival, Tech Fest, Uprising, Noizzefest and Collision Festival.
