Styt Optimized poster at Playhouse

The Spiel

A play about the worst kid in school accidentally becoming the best, then deciding that being the best is actually the worst thing that could happen to anyone. Joss is magnificently useless. Late for everything, terrible at literacy targets, constantly distracted by imaginary squid in cereal bowls. When a mysterious tech company chooses him as their guinea pig for a new "optimization" device, Joss transforms overnight from class failure to superstar student. But as his success spreads to other children, something vital goes missing from their world: mess, dreams, the beautiful chaos of being young. The first production for the Sheffield Theatres Youth Theatre group for 8-12 year olds.
