JS BACH (arr. Sitkovetsky) Three-Part Inventions (selection) (15′)JS BACH Trio Sonata in D minor BWV 527 (13′) Keyboard Concerto in F minor BWV 1056 (12′) The Art of Fugue BWV 1080: Contrapuncti I, II, VIII & XI (18′) Keyboard Concerto in D minor BWV 1052 (21′)

Acclaimed pianist Roman Rabinovich makes Sheffield his only UK stop on an international tour, joining forces with the string players of Ensemble 360 in two of Bach's great concertos. From the intimate exchanges of the Three-Part Inventions to the rich, unfolding patterns of The Art of Fugue, this programme reveals Bach's extraordinary gift for building complex music from the simplest elements. His concertos offer moments of tenderness alongside dazzling keyboard writing, with piano and strings sharing melodies, answering one another and building towards passages of exhilarating energy.
