Bob Dylan is coming back to Sheffield, for the first time in more than 17 years, at Utilita Arena, Friday 27th November 2026. The announcement dropped yesterday and, if the reaction online is anything to go by, a lot of people are already circling the date.
For all the excitement of Dylan returning, the detail everyone's actually arguing about is the phone policy: the whole UK run is phone and camera free, which means your night with the man who wrote Like a Rolling Stone will also involve locking your phone in a pouch before you get near the stage. A genius idea? A pretentious one? Or both?
Here's everything you need to know about the Sheffield date: what it is, when tickets go on sale, how the Yondr phone ban actually works, and how to get in and out of the Arena without losing your mind in the car park.

What is the Bob Dylan Sheffield show?
Bob Dylan's 2026 UK tour is a short, high-demand run of ten dates across November and December. Sheffield sits early in the itinerary as the third stop, after Bournemouth and Birmingham, and before Blackpool and a five-night residency at London's Royal Festival Hall.
Date: Friday 27th November 2026
Venue: Utilita Arena Sheffield, Broughton Lane, Sheffield, S9 2DF
Capacity: Up to 13,600
Dylan last played Sheffield Arena in 2009, so for a lot of local fans this is the end of a long wait. He's 85 and still touring, which is pretty remarkable. His 2025 UK shows have featured songs from his latest album, Rough and Rowdy Ways, with staples like It Ain't Me Babe, It's All Over Now, Baby Blue, I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, and Every Grain of Sand in the mix. Dylan being Dylan, the exact setlist is anyone's guess until he sits down at the piano.

When do Bob Dylan tickets go on sale?
This is the bit that everyone is most interested in: when the tickets actually go on sale and how to get them.
Venue presale: Monday 20th July 2026 at 10am
General sale: Wednesday 22nd July 2026 at 10am
The Utilita Arena Sheffield venue presale is the one to aim for if you want first dibs on the tickets. Sign up to the arena newsletter beforehand. On Monday morning, bookmark Sheffield Scene's Bob Dylan event page and use our ticket link when presale opens.
General sale follows two days later via Ticketmaster and the official Bob Dylan channels. Expect demand to be sharp. Dylan doesn't announce UK arena dates every other month, and Sheffield has been waiting a long time.
Quick tip: be logged in, ready at 9:59am. Presales go fast, so you don't want to miss out. If you do happen to lose out on the presale tickets, come back to our event page on Wednesday for general sale tickets.

The phone ban: how Yondr works at Bob Dylan gigs
Let's talk about the thing everyone has an opinion on.
All of Dylan's 2026 UK shows are phone and camera free. That isn't a gentle request from the stage. Your phone, smartwatch and similar devices all need to be locked away before you enter the performance space.
How it works on the night
- You arrive at the Arena and go through the usual security checks.
- Yondr staff help you put your phone (and any other restricted devices) into a lockable Yondr pouch.
- You keep the pouch with you all night. Nobody takes your phone off you.
- The pouch stays locked inside the performance area.
- If you need your phone for an emergency etc., you leave the performance space and unlock it in a designated phone-use area.
- Want to go back in? The device goes back in the pouch and gets locked again.
- At the end of the show, pouches are unlocked as you leave.
Anyone caught using a device during the performance may be escorted out. Medical exemptions are typically made for people who rely on a phone for treatment. If that applies to you, contact the venue ahead of time rather than leaving it till you get to the door.
One practical detail people forget: once your phone is locked, Apple Pay / Google Pay is gone. Bring a physical debit or credit card if you want a drink or snack. Also arrive earlier than you normally would. The pouch process adds time, and you want to get prime position as early as possible.
So… is this brilliant, or is it a bit much?
On one side: you're about to watch one of the most important songwriters alive, and for once you won't have to try and dodge a sea of glowing rectangles to see the stage. No bloke in front of you filming an entire song he'll never watch again. Just eyes, ears, and a shared night that only exists for the people in the building. After decades of Dylan fighting cameras, this is the logical end point. Plenty of fans will love it.
On the other side: it's 2026, phones are how people feel safe, meet friends, check trains home, and yes, sometimes capture a moment they've waited years for. Locking everyone's device in a pouch for a Friday night arena show can feel less like "presence" and more like being told how to enjoy yourself. Are you ready to actually watch a gig with your own eyes… or is this too pretentious?
We can't pick a side. You'll either find it refreshing, or you'll find yourself staring at a locked pouch wondering why you can't just silence your phone like a normal person. Either way, it's non-negotiable if you want to see The Bard live.
How to get to Utilita Arena Sheffield
The Arena sits just off the M1 at Broughton Lane (postcode S9 2DF), next to the Olympic Legacy Park. It's easy to reach if you plan it; less fun if you wing it on a sold-out Friday.
By tram (the sensible option)
The Arena has its own stop: Arena / Olympic Legacy Park, served by the Yellow Route and Tram Train. It's the cleanest way in for most people. No fighting Arena traffic, no praying for a parking space, but the trams will be packed with people getting to and from the concert, so don't bet on getting a seat.
Buy tickets through the Travel South Yorkshire app if you can; you can also pay on board, but the app is usually better value.
By train
- Sheffield station (city centre): about a 10-minute taxi or roughly 20 minutes on Supertram.
- Meadowhall Interchange: much closer, around a 5-minute tram ride to the Arena stop.
If you're coming from further afield, Meadowhall is often the smarter drop-off, especially if coming from Leeds or Doncaster, as the Meadowhall interchange is on the way to Sheffield.
By car
- From the north: leave the M1 at Junction 34, signed Sheffield A6109 (Meadowhall).
- From the south: leave the M1 at Junction 33.
On-site Arena parking is available but regularly sells out in advance, so book it early if driving is your plan. Parking for this show can be pre-booked from the venue/Ticketmaster event pages around the same time tickets go on sale. It's cashless, reserved once booked, and a lot less stressful than circling Broughton Lane at 6:45pm.
Park & Ride is another solid shout:
- Meadowhall Park & Ride — free parking near Meadowhall Interchange, then tram to the Arena.
- Nunnery Square Park & Ride — handy from Junction 33; about a 5-minute tram ride to the venue.
If you're driving, leave more time than you think you need. Big Friday shows at the Arena turn the surrounding roads into a patience test.
By bus or taxi
Several local bus routes serve stops near Attercliffe Common / Arena Square. Check Travel South Yorkshire closer to the date for the latest. Taxis are straightforward too; Sheffield station to the Arena is a short hop if you'd rather not navigate the tram with a winter coat and a sense of destiny.
What to expect on the night
Doors and support details usually land closer to the show on the official Utilita Arena event page, so keep an eye on that once you've got tickets. For a Yondr night specifically:
- Arrive early for the pouch process.
- Travel light if you can.
- Bring a physical card for bars and merch.
- Don't expect to film your favourite song. Or any song.
- Check the running order a few days before. Arena shows publish it closer to the date.
And remember: this is Dylan. Setlists shift. Arrangements surprise people. The night is the night, which ironically, is exactly what the phone ban is trying to force you to notice.
