Jazz vocalist Louise Gibbs presents Jazz Song Uncovered. In this intimate duo setting with pianist Ben Finlay, the programme marks 100 years of jazz song from its blues roots in Bessie Smith, the American Songbook of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sarah Vaughan, the improvisational bebop of Betty Carter, the liberation soul of Abbey Lincoln, the Brazilian contribution of Tania Maria, to the contemporary jazz fusion of Esperanza Spalding and modern British jazz vocalists.

Throughout term time we run free informal recitals and events in Firth Hall. Including visiting guests and the performances from the talented students from the Department of Music. Be prepared to be blown away by phenomenal performances, classic recitals, folk tunes and much more. These events run during term time, predominantly in Firth Hall. These are informal concerts, so food and work are welcome. Also don't worry if you need to leave early or arrive late, you can sneak out whenever, no questions asked!
