What's On in Sheffield: July 2026
July is one of the busiest months on the Sheffield calendar. Crossed Wires lands in the opening weekend, Derren Brown returns to the Lyceum, big-name gigs fill Foundry and Network, and the theatres keep rolling through summer. Whether you want a podcast live show, a day rave, or a proper night at the ballet, here is what we are most excited for this month.

Crossed Wires and City Hall (2–5 July)
The month kicks off with Crossed Wires Festival, the podcast festival taking over City Hall, Sheffield Theatres, Cole Brothers, and more. We have a full Crossed Wires 2026 guide if you want the fringe vs headline breakdown. These three City Hall shows are the ones we would book first:
1. JaackMaate's Happy Hour - Crossed Wires — Sheffield City Hall
Thursday 3rd July
JaackMaate brings his Happy Hour podcast to the main stage. Expect unfiltered chat, daft games, and the kind of energy that works far better live than through headphones. Perfect if you want a big-room comedy night to open the festival.

2. How to Fail with Elizabeth Day - Crossed Wires — Sheffield City Hall
Friday 4th July
Elizabeth Day's How to Fail has become essential listening for anyone who prefers honesty over highlight reels. The live show digs into the stories behind the guests and the lessons that only come out on stage. Smart, warm, and very Sheffield-friendly.
3. The Blindboy Podcast - Crossed Wires — Sheffield City Hall
Saturday 5th July
Blindboy closes out the festival weekend with the mix of surreal storytelling, music, and social commentary that built one of Ireland's biggest podcasts. A brilliant way to finish the Crossed Wires run.
Gigs and club nights
Once the podcast mics are packed away, the city keeps moving. July is strong for guitar bands, rave heritage, and Corporation metal nights.
4. The Lathums — Electric Studios
Friday 4th July
Wigan's finest bring their anthemic indie rock to Electric Studios for a proper summer singalong. If you missed them on the arena circuit, this is the intimate Sheffield show to catch.

5. Reflective – The Old Skool Day Rave — Network Sheffield
Friday 4th July
A daytime old-skool house and rave session at Network, with an after party later the same night. For anyone who wants Sheffield club culture with a nostalgic twist.
6. Jim Jones All Stars — Yellow Arch Studios
Thursday 3rd July
Garage-rock royalty in a Kelham room built for volume. Jim Jones has played everywhere from Glastonbury to Corporation; Yellow Arch is the right scale for this one.
7. Superheaven — Foundry
Tuesday 8th July
American alt-rock with big choruses and a loyal UK following. Foundry remains one of the best rooms in the city for guitar bands that need space to breathe. Worth the midweek trip.

8. Bat Sabbath | Cancer Bats as Black Sabbath — Corporation
Thursday 16th July
Cancer Bats don the Sabbath catalogue for a full-throttle tribute set at Corp. Loud, daft, and exactly what that venue was built for.
Festivals and big nights out
9. Bassfest Summer Festival 2026 — Don Valley Bowl
Saturday 18th July
Outdoor bass music at Don Valley Bowl as summer proper arrives. One of the month's best excuses to be outside after dark.

Theatre
10. Derren Brown: Only Human — Lyceum Theatre
14–18 July 2026
The month's biggest theatre booking. Derren Brown brings Only Human to the Lyceum for a five-night run, blending mind-reading, psychological illusion, and the kind of storytelling that leaves you questioning what you just saw. If you only book one theatre ticket in July, make it this one.

11. Matthew Bourne's The Car Man — Lyceum Theatre
21–25 July 2026
Matthew Bourne's reimagining of Bizet's Carmen transfers to a 1960s Italian-American town for drama, dance, and cinematic staging. The run plays at the Lyceum through Saturday 25th July. A stunning second act for the Lyceum if you want something beyond gigs and club nights.

Also on our radar
A few more July picks worth a look:
- Last Laugh Comedy Club every Friday and Saturday at City Hall (Toby Foster's club night, still the oldest comedy club in the North of England).
- This Old House at Network on Saturday 18th July.
- Mr Vegas | Network on Friday 25th July for a proper drum & bass session.
- Paul Cookson at The Greystones for poetry with punchlines.
