The Panic Room poster at Sheffield Octagon

The Spiel

A writer on the brink of finishing his latest novel spirals into a surreal encounter with three figures who refuse to leave, each playing a necessary part in the unravelling of truth. Scenes replay, overlap and distort; familiar comforts turn suspect. Driving choreography, fractured dialogue and relentless tension make The Panic Room a psychological thriller in motion, a hybrid of dance and drama where denial cannibalises itself, and collapse becomes inevitable. What begins as a final attempt to write his way out of confinement quietly destabilises everything. Recognised by the Critics’ Circle as one of the most sophisticated and exciting dance companies to emerge from the UK, and known for work described as “masterful and redefining the possibilities of dance in the 21st century.” This show is part of our Enable US programme of drama, dance, circus and beyond.
